The Trail:
Name: Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)
Distance: 2,647 miles
Start: Mexico border in California
End: Canada border in Washington
Time: On average it takes 4-6 Months to hike.
Our Plan:
Start Date: April 29th, 2019
End Date: October 14st, 2019
Total Time: 5.5 Months
** Our plan is for 5.5 months, as a minimum. We hope to get it done in about 5 Months (mid-late, September)
Daily Miles: https://public.domo.com/cards/aMAxP
This is set up with starting at .5 of our avg. miles, going to .75, avg., our avg, 1.25 avg., and finishing at 1.5 avg. This should help us ease into the trail. This model is built from what average mileage is at the beginning of the trail and the end.
We do not anticipate to be hiking 30 miles every day by the end of the trail. We also do not anticipate hiking 10 miles every day at the start. We hope that these will avg. out over time.
Zero Day: This is a rest day where we do not hike. We plan on taking about 1 every 7 days starting and then 1 every 14 when finishing. To average this, we planned every 11 days.
Town Day: This would be a day we are in town picking up food packages. We plan on having 1 every 5-7 days. To be safe we built the schedule with town days every 5 days. We still plan on hiking on town days so they are ½ of the normal miles (with scaled avg.).

**Sheet “Resupply Points”
This list shows all the points that we can get food to resupply our packs. We will be sending some of our food through the mail, the rest of our meal we will purchase while in town.
The dates are all tentative. If we end up being slower/faster than predicted we could be into a town give or take a week or so.
This will update as we go along on the trail because families will be using this sheet to know when to send food or where we are.
We will be updating this when we are in towns on the trail, so if we are ahead/behind schedule, packages can be adjusted
Trail Breakdown: https://public.domo.com/cards/aODzB
This is a breakdown of the obstacles, water, and camping locations.
P.W.: Poor water: these locations we will have to filter water and then either boil or use iodine tablets to ensure water is cleaned completely. - We will be avoiding these water locations, if avoidable.
P.C. Poor Camping: These mean that the camping spots are not ideal. - For example, they may have high sun exposure or rocky terrain.
We will be carrying this with us on the trail to prepare for each day’s hike.

Plans with work:
Nolan quit DOMO with non-official promises of a job upon returning with multiple departments and teams (if there is an opening).
Alissa talked to her boss and is coming back to her job when we are done with the trail.
Nolan was able to make up days missed with the military before leaving. He only had to make up May-August because his Army Reserve contract is up in August. We can't believe Nolan has been in the military for 6 years already!
Nolan quit his part-time job at Cabela's. This side job was to help finance the trip, and Nolan doesn't plan on going back.
